Statements from the artist
Andreas Straub in his studio in Delémont

POINT OF VIEW
I am an analytical worker.
I like opposites; I like turning things around.
I am intrigued by combinational games.
In the end, everything boils down to the question: What point of view are you taking? This viewpoint is always a time-related entity

METHOD
My paintings are stepping stones in my life. Transformations belonging to this process are allowed to remain visible. Destruction and reconstruction deliver the necessary tension.
My working process starts in the mental realm, leads to an idea, and then into drawing.
My drawings are traces of evidence via pencil or computer; they carry an elemental quality. The choice of materials is determined during this process.
To tackle a work several times, to destroy it, paint it over and correct it: All of this belongs to the process of emergence.
